DofE

I first heard about DofE during my first year at ANOA. A student from another school came to give us a presentation about the programme, and I was immediately hooked. I loved the idea of gaining new experiences and tackling challenges, as well as the fact that you are doing it all for yourself with the rewarding feeling of being thanked and congratulated at the end.
I was a bit unsure at first, but fortunately, I was surrounded by friends who were just as interested, so we decided to go for it together. I am so glad I joined DofE; it has taught me so much, introduced me to new things, prepared me for life, and even deepened my friendships.

When I first joined ANOA, I had no idea what DofE was. Two months later, a young lady from the programme came to present the basic information and share her own experiences. That was the turning point. I was immediately drawn to the expedition; it was the highlight for me then, and it remains so today. Having already completed my Bronze Award, I'm now in my third year and working towards Gold. Although the last six months have been a real challenge in terms of keeping my ORB logs up to date, I'm sticking with it. I know I'm not in this alone, and having given Danica my word that I'd reach the Gold level with her, I intend to keep it. Only a fool would give up so close to the finish line.

When I first started at ANOA, I had no idea what the DofE programme was. I only joined in my third year, thanks to a friend who explained how it worked and encouraged me to give it a try. As I gradually discovered what the programme entails, I truly began to enjoy it. For me, the expedition is the most meaningful and important part of the entire experience.
This is my first year in DofE, and although I sometimes find it challenging to keep my records up to date in the ORB , I am determined to persevere. I know I am not alone in this, and that makes it worth continuing. I have set myself a goal to reach the Gold level, and I will do my absolute best to achieve it.

What is DofE?
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is a global challenge for anyone aged 13 to 24, designed to help you discover your hidden potential. It is an opportunity to explore your strengths, tackle your weaknesses, and gain life-changing experiences that will truly push you forward. This journey is not about competing with others; it is about proving to yourself what you are genuinely capable of.
The programme is built around three core pillars: Physical activity, Skills, and Volunteering. You choose activities that you actually enjoy and dedicate just one hour a week to each. The highlight of the programme is the adventurous expedition with your friends, where you put your teamwork and endurance to the test.
Upon successful completion, you will receive a globally recognised certificate. This award is much more than just a piece of paper; it provides a significant head start for university applications and future careers, proving your commitment and resilience. DofE is for everyone, regardless of their starting point.
Expedition
You will spend several days in the great outdoors with your friends, discovering fascinating locations across the Czech Republic or even abroad. But it is about more than just the journey; you will also work towards a specific team goal. Whether you choose to map out forgotten historical sites, collect plants for a botanical herbarium, or navigate a challenging stretch of a river, the expedition is about teamwork, resilience, and unforgettable memories
26th – 27th September 2024 our team successfully completed their qualifying adventurous journey, Český ráj.
