Blooming Side by Side
The outdoor spaces of the Central Military Hospital (ÚVN) have blossomed with spring colors, thanks to a volunteering event organized by students as part of their long-term partnership with the hospital. A team of fifteen student volunteers, including younger participants around eleven years old, swapped their textbooks for gardening tools to help clean up and plant new greenery.
The main task was to revitalize the outdoor campus after the winter season. The young gardeners enthusiastically took on weeding, trimming tired plants, and potting fresh flowers into large outdoor planters. Perfect sunny weather and great team spirit helped the work go quickly and smoothly.
"It was wonderful to see how much energy and enthusiasm even our younger students brought to the project. Age was no barrier at all," the organizers noted, highlighting that intergenerational support is a key value at the school.
The freshly blooming gardens and neat surroundings are meant to bring joy especially to the seniors and war veterans at the Vlčí mák Care Home, located right on the hospital grounds. However, the improved environment will undoubtedly brighten the day for patients, medical staff, and visitors alike.
