Our DofE Practice Expedition
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is not just about personal growth; it is primarily about teamwork. We put this to the test during our recent practice expedition, which challenged both our physical fitness and our ability to work together as a cohesive unit.
From Maps to Pitching Tents
The practice expedition served as our first real-world test in the field. We had to apply everything we had learned in theory from navigating with a map to managing heavy backpacks.
One of the biggest highlights was pitching our tents. It sounds simple, but doing it efficiently as a team is a true test of patience and coordination. We learned how to find the right spot, secure the pegs, and make sure our "home for the night" was ready for whatever the weather might bring.
Who Does What? Assigning Roles
We spent a lot of time defining our team roles. To ensure our qualifying expedition goes smoothly, everyone needs to know their responsibilities. We are currently finalizing who will take on which position:

Navigator: The one who keeps us on track and ensures we don't get lost among the contour lines.
Logistics & Scribe: In charge of documenting the journey and keeping us on schedule.
First Aider: The person with the medical kit ready to handle anything from blisters to scratches.
Chef: The master of the camping stove, ensuring we have a warm meal after a long day of trekking.
Where To Next?
A major part of our discussions involved planning the route for our qualifying expedition. We are looking for a location that offers a fair challenge while allowing us to meet our expedition goals. We've been debating everything from mountain ridges to hidden valleys the final decision will be made very soon!
Our preparations are in full swing, and we are already looking forward to strapping on our packs and heading out for the next adventure. Wish us luck!
