Standing for the Indefensible
Defending the Indefensible
In line with the European Parliament Ambassador School (EPAS) obligations, our team has recently provided a series of powerful presentations to first, third, and fourth-year students. Our mission? To spark a conversation about the fragile nature of freedom and the courageous individuals who risk it all to preserve that freedom.
The Fight for Freedom
Freedom is often taken for granted until it is threatened. We spoke to our peers about the global struggle for civil liberties, democracy is not a spectator sport.
The Sakharov Prize
The Sakharov prize for freedom of thought was a main element of the presentation (International, n.d.). We explored how the European Parliament awards this to dissidents, leading activists and organizations around the world that defend human rights.
Who was Andrei Sakharov?
Present Laureates; We looked at some of the more recent winners, the battles they are fighting in the world today, and the impact these fights have on the world, from freedom of speech to equal rights for women.
Amnesty International
To show that students can make difference, Amnesty international has been brought to light. Amnesty International was used as an example to show that students can create a difference through campaigning at the grassroots level, letter-writing and creating a sense of global solidarity that actually forces regimes to release prisoners of conscience and to repeal unjust laws.
Human rights are not a privilege bestowed upon by the government. They are not a privilege bestowed by the government but an unalienable right for every human being. We presented in front of a total of 80 students.
