Politics

Within the framework of the European Parliament Ambassador School (EPAS) programme, my colleague and I have carved out a specialised niche that connects high-level diplomacy with our own student body. Operating as a focused two-man team, we have taken it upon ourselves to bring the often-distant machinery of European governance directly into the classroom. The goal is simple: to move beyond textbook theory and engage with the actual architects of European policy.

The day-to-day reality of this role demands a high degree of initiative and professional grit. We spend a significant amount of time monitoring legislative trends in the EU and identifying key political figures whose expertise aligns with our school's interests. Acting as formal liaisons, we draft invitations, coordinate with the offices of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), and navigate the complex logistics of political scheduling. Furthermore, representing the school at external debates and EU conferences has become a core part of our routine. These events are essential for staying informed on geopolitical shifts and building the professional network required to secure high-profile guests.

This persistence has recently paid dividends. Through consistent outreach, we have successfully coordinated the upcoming visits of two prominent figures in Czech and European politics: Danuše Nerudová and Tomáš Zdechovský. Securing such speakers involved a rigorous process of negotiation and follow-up, proving that a dedicated two-person initiative can indeed facilitate direct access to the leaders shaping our continent.

Currently, the focus has shifted to the preparation phase, where we are conducting in-depth research to ensure the upcoming debates are both substantive and challenging. This is not merely about organising a lecture; it is about facilitating a platform where students can hold decision-makers to account. For the two of us, this experience has been an invaluable masterclass in political organisation, professional networking, and diplomatic communication.
